Grand Forks photographer Russ Hons captured the Northern Lights (aurora borealis) at their best Monday night. The spectacular show could be seen across almost the entire North American continent, with people from New England, Minnesota, Iowa and the Dakotas posting magnificent photos on social media of the illuminated sky. Scientists say the phenomenon can be attributed to a perfect storm of space events, including cronal mass ejections that led to the severe geomagnetic storms.
