The University of North Dakota men’s basketball team defeated defending Big Sky Conference champion Eastern Washington University 79-71 Saturday in Betty Engelstad Sioux Center. The Fighting Hawks were led by junior guard Quinton Hooker, who finished with 16 points and went 8-for-10 from the foul line. Freshmen Geno Crandall and Drick Bernstine each chipped in 15 points and Cortez Seales added 10 for the Fighting Hawks. EWU junior Felix Van Hofe finished with a game-high 19 points. UND upped its record to 6-7 (1-1 in the BSC), while the Eagles fell to 6-8 (0-2 in the BSC). UND returns to play Thursday at Weber State, the team’s first Big Sky road contest of the season.
