“For the record: I don’t play games on Facebook, so please don’t ask me. I also don’t repost even when close friends and/or relatives ask me to repost due to some cause they are passionate about ― unless I choose to. I dislike the “guilt trip style” when it says “if you care …” you’ll repost or “if you don’t care, I’ll know you’re not REALLY my friend.”

I choose what I post because I choose what I post. Period. If you don’t know that I care about you and that you’re my friend by now, a FB repost will make no difference. Now, I’m glad I got that off my chest. Enjoy your day!”

I was amused that within minutes, I had more than 40 “likes”  and “dittos” from friends in Minnesota, Iowa and Colorado as well as Germany! Wow. Who knew?

Don’t get me wrong, I love Facebook. Having lived in Minnesota, Washington, California, Tennessee, the U.S. Virgin Islands, England and Germany, I’ve got friends and relatives all over the world. Especially since many of them have now moved to other places like Australia, Tasmania, New Zealand as well as other states.

FB allows me to keep in touch on an informal conversational basis with these friends in addition to many of my grade school, high school and college friends and relatives spread all over the world. FB is absolutely a connector.

It can also be a disconnector. I “hide” posts I don’t like ― a lot ― especially if it contains what I deem offensive language or image(s). Even if I also personally use the F-word on occasion, I don’t want it posted on my FB page, thank you very much.

I admit I have “de-friended” more than one person. OMG! I also admit I have “accepted friend request” from people I don’t know that well. Call it an extended hand. I like people. I want to get to know more people. And FB is sure a great way to learn about people.

Two areas that probably would be best left out of FB (fat chance of that happening, right?!) are religion and politics. I’m a Christian. I have Muslim, Jewish and nonbeliever friends and family. I’m a liberal. I have Republican, Independent and nonpolitical friends. So I read. I “listen.” I learn.

With the 2016 presidential elections in full force, I’m learning even more about some people. 😉 I can certainly agree to disagree 😬, however, when someone goes on a tirade😠, I don’t care who they are, I’m more likely than not to “hide” their post. Unless, of course, I agree. 👍🏻

One of my daughters, who is pretty smart 😘,doesn’t post religious or political things. Like I said, she’s pretty smart. But dang it, I can’t help myself sometimes. I do admit to being opinionated. Gasp! 😛
