February 20: Pixie is not quite her perky self — although improving by the moment — after some work on her teeth yesterday at our local pet hospital. Pretty much how I felt after a dentist installed a new bridge in my jaw a few months ago.
February 19: The moon over Bloomington, Minn., at about 5 p.m. Not quite full — according to the sky charts, it’s at 93.3 percent illumination. The technical stuff: 70-200 mm lens with a 1.4X extender, 1/250 of a second at f/7.1, ISO 400.
February 18: Not my favorite mode of transportation in the Twin Cities, but sometimes the bus is the best way to get to Orchestra Hall from our place in Bloomington., Minn.
February 17: Pixie returning from a walk, photographed with a Canon SX710 HS pocket camera in Bloomington, Minn.
February 11: This rabbit and its partner are living under our deck this winter in Bloomington, Minn. Not as big as the Internet sensation “Atlas” from Scotland but seems well-nourished given the conditions.
February 10: Hey, guess who was at the groomer for a couple of hours today? Pixie, that’s who. But too much barking by the other dogs there, so it’s time for a nap. “Go away, Dave.”
February 8: “Blizzard warning you say? I’m out of here.” Photographed yesterday. Turned out our part of Minnesota was largely missed by the winter storm.
February 3: View of our deck in Bloomington, Minn., this morning. 13.5 inches of new snow. Good to see a bird at the feeder; the kind of snowstorm with high winds we had yesterday can be devastating to the feathered friends who chose to spend the winter in Minnesota.
Here are some February shots from Bloomington, Minn., photographer Dave Vorland.
