The University of North Dakota women’s volleyball team kicked off its 2018 season with its annual Green and White scrimmage Tuesday night in Betty Engelstad Sioux Center. The intersquad game featured the team split into two groups playing three sets, which was on by the Green squad 25-14, 25-19, 25-15. The Fighting Hawks are coming off two very successful seasons, winning back-to-back Big Sky Conference Tournament championships. Kayla Williams led the Green team with a team-high 14 kills. She also had 11 digs, two blocks and a pair of service aces. She was backed up by Roosa Ratio, who had a game-high 26 assists, six digs and one kill. Lydia Rutten and Kelly Wahl led the White team. Rutten had a team-high six kills, while Wahl had five blocks. UND begins its regular season Friday with a pair of matches in the Red Raider Classic in Lubbock, Texas. The Fighting Hawks play Rice at 10 a.m. and the host Red Raiders at 7 p.m. (Check out more photos from Russ Hons here.)
