Thompson defeated Hillsboro-Central Valley 59-53 in the championship game of the North Dakota Region 2 boys basketball tournament Thursday night in Betty Engelstad Sioux Center. The Tommies will make their first state tournament appearance next week in Minot with the win. Thompson was paced by Hayden Overby, who scored 26 points, and Cadyn Schwabe, who added 16. The Burros were led by Carson Henningsgard with 24 points. (Check out more photos from Russ Hons here.)
