The University of North Dakota men’s hockey team skated to a 4-4 overtime tie with second-ranked Minnesota State University-Mankato on Friday night at Mankato Civic Center in nonconference play. Westin Michaud, Harrison Blaisdell, Dixon Bowen and Jackson Keane scored for the Fighting Hawks (2-0-1), while Lucas Sowder, Edwin Hookenson, Nathan Smith and Connor Mackey scored for the Mavericks (2-0-1). UND Adam Scheel stopped 20 shots on goal, while Minnesota State’s Dryden McKay had 23 saves. The Fighting Hawks fell 2-1 to the Mavericks on Saturday night. North Dakota returns home Friday for a two-game nonconference series against Bemidji State University. (Check out more photos from Russ Hons here.)
