Junior goalie Peter Thome stopped all 25 shots he faced and Shane Pinto scored his 12th goal of the season to lead the University of North Dakota men’s hockey team to 1-0 shutout win over Colorado College in National Collegiate Hockey Conference play Friday night in Ralph Engelstad Arena. The shutout was Thome’s first since his freshman year. The Fighting Hawks (20-3-3 overall, 11-2-2 NCHC), ranked second in the country, reached the 20-win mark in January for the just the second time in the past 17 seasons. Matt Vernon had 29 saves in goal for the Tigers (8-14-1, 3-11-1 NCHC). UND played without defenseman Matt Kierstad, who will also miss tonight’s rematch He’s out with a lower body injury.
