Shane Pinto, Jacob Bernard-Docker, Westin Michaud and Collin Adams each scored a goal and added an assist to lead the No. 1-ranked University of North Dakota men’s hockey team to a 4-1 National Collegiate Hockey Conference win over the University of Denver on Friday night in Ralph Engelstad Arena. The win lifted the league-leading Fighting Hawks to 22-3-3 overall and 13-2-2 in the NCHC, while the Pioneers fell to fourth place in the standings at 17-7-5 overall and 7-6-4-3. UND goalie Peter Thome had 26 saves while improving his record to 5-0-1. Bobby Brink scored the lone Denver goal. Pioneers’ goalie Devin Cooley finished the game with 19 saves. UND’s Jordan Kawaguchi, who leads the league in scoring, chipped in two assists. The two teams meet again tonight. (Check out more photos from Russ Hons here.)
