The top-ranked boys high school hockey teams in North Dakota squared off Tuesday night in Cliff Purpur Arena in Grand Forks, with the No. 1 Grand Forks Central Knights topping the Grand Forks Red River Roughriders 4-1 in the season opener for both teams. Joey Kennelly scored twice for Central, with Dom Gerszewski and Connor Litzinger each scoring once. Mason Reynolds tallied the only Red River goal. Central goalie Kolby Elseth stopped 15 shots, while Red River’s Noah Burger had 27 saves. (Check out more photos from Russ Hons here.)
