The University of North Dakota women’s volleyball team won its home opener Thursday afternoon with a 3-0 sweep (25-10, 25-20, 25-12) of Eastern Washington University (3-1) in the first match of the UND Classic in Betty Engelstad Sioux Center. The Fighting Hawks were led by Jordan Vail, who had a career-high 16 kills, a career-high eight block assists and a solo block. Kayla Williams posted her fourth double-double in just five contests with 12 kills and 13 digs. She also added three aces. Ashley Brueggeman chipped in seven kills, five blocks, a dig and an assist. UND returns to action today with matches against Western Carolina and Louisiana Tech. (Check out more photos from Russ Hons here.)
