Author: Jeff Olson
A photo intern and part-time sportswriter at the Grand Forks Herald during his undergraduate days at the University of North Dakota, Jeff Olson spent 20-plus years in North Dakota newspapers as a photojournalist. He is a former small business owner and for the past 16 years has been a public affairs officer for the National Park Service. Olson spent 12-plus years at National Park Service headquarters in Washington, D.C., where he worked with members of the news media on a variety of issues. Today he leads a small team focused on communications and all things natural resource stewardship and science. They work in a nondescript office building, but it lies within view of snow-capped 14,000-foot peaks along the Rocky Mountain front range in Fort Collins, Colo. He lives in the Choice City with his wife, Joanne, and their golden retriever, Sam, conflicted only by having to root for the Washington Nationals and Colorado Rockies baseball clubs.
